On one of my visits to Kona, I walked into the local supermarket to purchase some fruit. I was surprised to see the same brand of strawberries and raspberries that I buy from the mainland. Double the mainland price was not surprising though. However, the berries were sad and half of them already rotten. Berries should be eaten fresh! Thus started my journey to grow berries local.
